I LOVE MY CHAIR
Chairs are one of the most important icons of design. Every designer worth their salt, and even more who are not, have attempted to express their vision through its conventions. They are the 'designed' objects that the average person is most likely to recognise and have an opinion of.
Umpteen books have been written about the chair as a designed object. However, few have been produced based on the idea of the chair as a used object. This is odd, given the omnipresence of chairs and the intimate interaction we have with them. I Love My Chair is an attempt to address this imbalance.
The book we've compiled from the many submissions is an edited selection of actual chairs people use and love. Some of the examples are surprising, others are touching. They are all real and reflect the real relationships they have with these objects.
We've published the book on Lulu. It's available to buy right now! You can also download a PDF version here.
WINNER

David Hicks, Congratulations.
We know it's not strictly a chair but we thought it demonstrated some nice lateral thought. We did say 'bum rest' and I suppose it's exactly that.

On my Trek 4500 bike, in the dining room!

What's your most fondest/most bizarre/interesting memory associated with your chair?
Having cycled to the top of a hill, turning a corner and seeing 2 eagles sitting on a dead tree about 10 feet away, with the mountains in the background.
I love my chair because...
I'm usually with my best mates, see the best scenery and get scared and elated all in one sitting!
If you saw someone sitting in your beloved chair what would you do or say to them?
Enjoy, but to get the best from it you need to work, rest and play really hard - are you ready?
